Motherhood opens up a whole flood of emotions and questions. Having someone to talk to is crucial for your emotional and mental wellbeing.

Postpartum visits should ideally be scheduled within three weeks of delivery to ensure that health issues requiring attention are not overlooked, including hypertension and breastfeeding problems. Postpartum women are at an increased risk of hypertensive disorders; 70%–75% of cases of preeclampsia occur postpartum (Karumanchi and Lindheimer, 2008). In one study the highest rate of severe hypertension occurred in the fifth postpartum day (Mann and Hobbs, 1999). Recommended procedures for diagnosis and classification have not been uniformly adopted; however, it is clear that women with blood pressure <140/90 mm Hg during pregnancy who develop persistent blood pressures ≥150/100 mm Hg after six hours on two occasions separated by at least four hours meet criteria for gestational hypertension (American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, 2013).
